Piwik PRO
A Piwik PRO alternative
Piwik PRO is a serious product, and most of the arguments people aim at large platforms simply do not apply to it. The difference between us is not the attitude to privacy, it is the size: they sell a four module suite for a team, we sell one panel for a site owner.
Free plan with no time limit. No card. Setup takes a minute.
Why people look for something smaller
Usually not over price or privacy, but because they got a platform where they needed a counter.
- 01
Four modules instead of one tool
The Piwik PRO Analytics Suite bundles analytics, a tag manager, a consent manager and a customer data platform into one account. If you use all four, that is a very good deal. If you came to see your most read pages, you walk through the settings of three modules you never intend to switch on.
- 02
The consent module exists because cookies are the default
The default configuration uses first party cookies, which is why a consent manager ships with the suite. You can measure without consent in a reduced mode, but that is a decision to make and configure. There is nothing to configure on our side, because there is nothing to write to the device.
- 03
The free tier ceiling arrives sooner than it sounds
The Core plan covers 500,000 actions a month across up to ten sites. An action is every pageview, every event and every download, so an active shop reaches that ceiling on traffic that looks quiet. Above it you get a sales conversation rather than the next line of a price list.
- 04
A team tool, sold the way team tools are sold
Paid plans come with configuration, training and support, because that is how this class of product works. For a company with an analytics team that is a benefit. For someone running two websites it is a calendar of meetings before the first chart.
The differences, row by row
The table compares default configurations, that is, what you get without extra work. Several rows are a draw and are written as one.

Which one to pick
This is a question about the size of your organisation, not about who takes privacy more seriously. Both answers below are honest ones.
Choose metuno if
- you run a site or a handful of sites and have no analytics team
- you want certainty that nothing lands on the visitor device, in any mode
- you prefer a published price to a quote after a call
- you need neither a tag manager nor a customer data platform
- you want a panel that can be read without training
Choose Piwik PRO if
- you need a consent manager and a tag manager in one place with analytics
- you work with user level data and join it with your own systems
- your organisation requires private or on premise hosting
- you buy tools through procurement, with a contract and implementation support
The questions that come up most
- Is Piwik PRO not private enough already?
- It is, and we will not pretend otherwise. The difference is narrower than that: their default configuration stores cookies, which is why a consent manager ships with the suite, and the consent free mode has to be chosen with a reduced data scope. There is no mode to choose on our side, because there is no device storage in any variant.
- Will you migrate my data from Piwik PRO?
- We import no history. The definitions of a visitor and a visit differ, so a merged chart would show a step at the point of the switch rather than a change in traffic. Leave both tools side by side for a month and compare directions.
- What happens when I pass the free plan limit?
- Collection on that site pauses until the end of the month, or until you switch the site to Pro. Everything gathered earlier stays and you keep seeing it. The allowance counts per site, so one busy site does not switch the others off.
- Do I get a tag manager?
- No, and we do not plan one. A tag manager mostly exists to put other companies scripts on your page, which is the thing this tool is meant to replace rather than make easier.
- Can I measure mobile apps?
- No. We measure websites. Piwik PRO has toolkits for apps, and if you need that, it is a genuine advantage on their side.
