Adobe Analytics
An Adobe Analytics alternative
Adobe Analytics does things we cannot do and do not intend to. The question is not which tool is better, it is whether your site needs a platform with an implementation project or a panel that starts working the same afternoon.
Free plan with no time limit. No card. Setup takes a minute.
Why people look for something smaller
Almost always for the same reason: the cost of keeping the tool alive outgrew the value of the answers it gives.
- 01
A price you cannot check before a call
Adobe does not publish a price list for Analytics. To find out what it costs you book a call and describe your traffic, and the quote depends on volume and the modules you pick. For a procurement team that is a normal way to work. For someone comparing two tools on a Wednesday evening it is a wall.
- 02
Implementation is a project, not a pasted snippet
Measurement is wired in through the Adobe Experience Platform Web SDK and a tag system, and a sensible report needs variables and processing rules designed first. Those are weeks well spent if you have something to extract from them. If you wanted your ten most read pages, they are weeks before the first answer.
- 03
The tool assumes somebody looks after it
Reports, segments and dimensions need a person who knows and maintains them. In an organisation with an analyst that works. Without one, a few months later the platform shows numbers nobody can defend, and decisions get made on instinct anyway.
- 04
Identifiers on the device, therefore a consent banner
Measurement relies on an identifier stored in the browser, so in the European Union it needs consent under Article 5(3). The banner costs part of your visits to everyone who puts one up, no matter how good the tool behind it is.
The differences, row by row
The table shows a difference of scale, not a winner. In several rows the advantage is clearly on the other side, and it is written that way.
| metuno | Adobe Analytics | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Statistics for one website | An analytics platform for an organisation |
| Pricing | 20 EUR per site a month, published on the site | Quoted individually, after a call |
| Implementation | One line in your page | A project: SDK, tags, variables, rules |
| Who operates it | The site owner | An analyst or an analytics team |
| Written to the device | Nothing | An identifier in the browser |
| Consent banner for measurement itself | Not needed | Required in the EU |
| Where the data lives | Servers in the European Union | Depends on the contract and chosen region |
| Cross channel analysis | Website traffic and nothing beyond it | Channels, campaigns and Adobe systems together |
| Person level data | Impossible by design | The basis of how the platform works |
| Time to the first number | Minutes | Weeks |
Which one to pick
If the list on the right describes your company, stay where you are. We have nothing to replace it with and it is not worth trying.
Choose metuno if
- you run a site without an analytics team and want answers today
- you want to know the price before talking to anyone
- you do not want a consent banner purely in order to count pageviews
- page weight and your performance scores matter to you
- your questions end at how many people came, where from and what they read
Stay on Adobe Analytics if
- you use other Adobe Experience Cloud products and rely on shared data
- you analyse individual customer journeys across channels, including off site
- you need custom dimensions, segments and processing rules
- your organisation has an analyst, data governance rules and an implementation budget
The questions that come up most
- Will metuno replace Adobe Analytics?
- In a large organisation it will not, and we will not pretend otherwise. We replace it where the platform was bought years ago and today somebody opens it once a month for four numbers. If that is what your usage looks like, you are paying for a great deal of air.
- Will you migrate the history?
- We import history from no tool. The definitions of a visitor and a visit differ, so a merged chart would show a step at the point of the switch rather than a change in traffic. Leave both tools side by side for a month and compare directions.
- Do you have custom dimensions and segments?
- We have custom events, goals, funnels and report filtering on the dimensions we collect. We have no customer defined dimensions and no processing rules. That is a deliberate boundary: every extra dimension is data about somebody that we would rather not hold.
- Can you measure apps and off site channels?
- No. We measure website traffic. If you need one picture of a customer across an app, a shop and campaigns, that is exactly the class of problem Adobe Analytics was built for.
- Do I really not need a consent banner?
- Not for the measurement itself. The consent requirement covers storing and reading data on a device, and we store nothing. If your site uses anything else that writes to the device, you will still need a banner because of those.
Find out how much of it you actually need
Put metuno next to what you use today, and after a month compare which panel you actually open.
